Play Dough

Make Play Dough at Home

Ms. Taylor's Favorite Play Dough Recipe:

INGREDIENTS:
• 2 cups flour
• 1 cup salt
• 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
• 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
• 2 cups water
• Food coloring

optional: essential oils

DIRECTIONS:
Mix together the flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil, and water in a medium saucepan.
Stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until play dough starts to come together, it begins to darken slightly.

It cooks fast so stay close by. Let cool then separate into equal parts as many colors as you would like. To add color roll the play dough into a ball and make a hole with your finger, drop a couple drops of color and knead until mixed in evenly. I suggest wearing gloves so not to dye your hands but a fork with dough in a bowl will work too.
Store in airtight container.

Add essential oils to each color if you would like. I prefer calming oils for art making but choose what you like.
Essential Oils- Lavender to calm, Lemon to cleanse and focus, Orange to soothe, Peppermint to stimulate.
